March 6, 2025

The US government has placed a pause on the 25% tariffs for all goods that are eligible for the US, Canada, Mexico (USMCA) Free Trade Agreement beginning 12:01 am on March 7. This pause is scheduled to end on April 2nd, 2025, and may be replaced with reciprocal tariffs not yet detailed.

A senior White House Official commented that these tariffs could potentially be averted beyond the new date if sufficient efforts are made with regard to the trafficking of fentanyl into the US.

Pro Tip: Ensure your USMCA Certificates of Origin for each shipment accompany the entry documents to ensure their qualification for the pause. Without proof of qualification, the 25% may apply (at the discretion of the Border Services Officers).
